Got Questions?

Here are some questions we often get asked

DO ALPACAS SPIT?

This is the number one question we get asked.  Yes, they spit, but very rarely at you.  Alpacas express their fear, annoyance, and frustration by spitting. Very rarely will they speak at a person, plus there are clear warning signs so you will have time to get out of the way if one alpaca is going to spit at another…so nothing to worry about

DO ALPACAS LIKE TO BE PET?

Unfortunately not really. It is very hard to resist the urge to reach out the pet their cute faces. Some alpaca’s will allow you to stroke their neck and their back. Mostly it is about being calm and moving slow. However, when you win over an alpaca, and they let you pet them it feels like a gift!

IS IT CRUEL TO SHEAR AN ALPACA?

Absolutely not, in fact it would be cruel to not shear them.  Their “coats” are thick and very warm, summer would be impossible for them to endure if we didn’t take their fibre off.
